Legal status of the CodeIgniter Foundation.

The Russian Parliament adopted a law on the participation of individuals in non-profit organizations.

If a non-profit organization is not registered in Russia, then participation in such an organization may be subject to an administrative penalty (fine) or a criminal penalty of up to 2 years in prison.

The law does not clearly define what "participation in the activities of a non-profit organization" means. There is not a small chance that a Russian court may interpret the sending of a PR/Issue as participation in the activities of a non-profit organization. 

So I want to know what is the legal status of the CodeIgniter Foundation. @kilishan

Apart from the new legislation, is there any reason why the CodeIgniter organization should be registered in Russia?
Do you have any business or even travel plans in or to Russia?

Or, are you from Russia?

In my opinion, CodeIgniter has no reason to register in Russia. It can even be harmful. It's just that the Russian government is organizing a witch hunt.

Russian legislators do not make exceptions if it does not concern themselves.
Lawyers can only guess how hypothetically it might be.
