No im not actually sure how to check the results of that. Also how does that work without including $row->id; (the id of the template)?

I honestly think your best bet is to read some of those resources I posted a link to. Please don't give up on CodeIgniter. If you can stick with it, I promise you, you won't regret it. It can just be a bit difficult to get started, but once you understand the concepts, and adopt some good coding practices, you'll love it as much as I do.
