I want to display few content(say two words) which has a link,just below the date in the calendar, also there may be multiple content there. How do i do this?

Exactly as you said, use CSS, include it in the <head> of your view.

I am not using views to display. I have everything in the controler itself, because i dint understand how to use view.

I have the $prefs in controler and also the generator in the controler. So how can i do it now. or can anyone explain how to use veiws for calendar.

I think you really need to learn how to use the basics of MVC within CI before you go any further.
A good place to start would be with the video tutorials

before that i would like to know about views and controler.

I have all the code in controler, the mysql fetch to $data, the prefs, and it has the template.

Now i am loading view, and what should the view has?
