Image upload and crop using codeigniter

I am planning a codeigniter project, in this project i would like to include the below jquery function

if possible i would also like to use the below function, but it is more one of those if i can then i will but if i cant then no big deal sort of features.

either way i was just wondering what sort of modifications would need to be made to these functions in order for them to work with code igniter, or if there is an alternative image upload and crop function specifically for codeigniter.


(currently i have a working version of my site, but after using the 3 tier pattern and singleton pattern in school i figure'd it was about time that i move away from that mash of code i call a site and use a framework, so sorry if this is sort of a newb question)
