CI 1.7.2 on MySQL version 4.0.27

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it is possible to get code igniter working with a MySQL database version of 4.0.27. I know that CI is supposed to have version 4.1 or higher, and have been trying to get the web host of this website to update it, but after weeks of them dragging their feet and not doing it, I am getting desperate to launch the site on our intended launch date of next week. It is not possible to switch hosts.


I found some old posts about getting CI version 1.6 to work on older databases, but am wondering if i need to do anything else/if those fixes still work, on version 1.7.2.

The biggest change I know of is indeed the change in characterset treatment. I can remember migration issues going from 4.0 to 4.1. Unfortunately 4.1.22 is the oldest I have in my test environment, so I can't test anything for you.

You've got a week, I guess the only way to know is to try and find out. Report any issues you encounter here, and we'll try to help you out.
