Retrieved data from Wordpress table has weird chars, help appreciated

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right forum or place but giving it a go.

I have a site thats being moved from Wordpress and the tables, the posts table, has post_title which I can get at but the post_content has some weird characters. I'm sure this is because of the HTML characters but can anyone point me to an article how to escape or change those characters?

...and yes, you are in the wrong place. The only thing wordpress and codeigniter have in common is that they both use PHP.
