Doubt in web server

Hi all,
we developed a student portal in code igniter . Its performance is very slow in testing server. we cant able to figure out why it is slow. we tried different solutions, but still its very slow. We have two different projects in our testing server. Will it create problems ? or tell some solution where i should look in..

How much memory
CPU speed
Graphics card
Lan connections

There are lots of reasons for a server being slow!
