ODBC Connection For Remote Sybase Database

Hello learned geniuses!

We're having a small nightmare here at our development studio in Essex. We're developing a recruitment website whose current database is a Sybase database hosted on a remote server.

Rackspace only support ODBC connections and won't let us recompile PHP with sybase specific extensions without us losing our support and this isn't an option we can take with our current client-base.

From much Googling, tea and tears we have come to the conclusion that Remote Sybase / PHP Connection information is relatively sparse and so I've descended upon yourselves to see if anyone here has experience connecting to such databases and if so if you could lend a helping hand with regards to connection strings etc.
