ZIP WHOLE DIRECTORY

Hello,

is there a way to zip whole directory and all subdirectories with CI Zip class?

not sure what you are trying to achieve. using the CI zip class, I create the data from reading a database storing it in a large array or object and then zip that data into a file or multiple files, or organized into directories.

I don't think the zip class reads a dir in and then zips it.. if you wanted to do that you would have to walk through the directory structure, read each file in store it in memory and then use the zip function to save to a file. you can use the file helper to do this.

i am trying to do script that backups my whole site...
but it seem that i have to use the good old gzip shell command
