Active record and ORDER BY CASE

Hello,

I've just found out that the active record class will escape my ORDER BY CASE col WHEN val THEN 1 ELSE -1 statement
ie. CASE becomes 'CASE' and the query fails.

Is this on purpose? any way i can get around this?
