I was trying the new version of codeigniter. First problem i had was that my css file wasnt loading. Css file was in application/assets folder and when i tried to access it directly i had error that access denied. After some time i figured out that there is a .htaccess file in application directory that denied access everywhere. I deleted it and everything was working fine.
My question now is that is the htaccess file nessesery? What risks am i taking when i deleted it? Should i move my assets somewhere else or should i make an exception for it in htaccess?
