Repopulate an input type="file" field?

I use a multipart form mixing text input fields with one photo upload field

When form validation fails, I can't repopulate the file-field. It seems users must input this value themselves by typing it in each time manually or using the provided Browse... button.

Is there a way to repopulate the input field of type="file"? or has anyone a workaround for this inconvenience?
