Can CodeIgniter solve my problems? How do I do that?

I have an existing PHP site (it’s a free online baseball game: brokenbat.org). Anyway, I wrote it all from scratch with PHP, a mySQL database and a little jQuery. It works, but it’s pretty slow to write everything from the ground up. Additionally, the modules like site mail, forums, user registration/login/admin are all pretty clunky (have spent most of my time on the game core).

I have installed codeignitor on my localhost and am trying to figure out if it will do what I need. I like the whole MVC model – I really need something like that to improve my code (which is all over the place now).

However, I’m struggling to figure out how I can add stuff like user administration and forums to the basic site. Surely, there is a popular plug-in to do these functions for you, right?

Thanks,

Steve
