Smiley images not showing up =(

Hi, i copied the code exactly from Smiley helper into my own code, and when i ran it everything showed up fine except the Smiley images. In firefox the words like "angry" "mad" etc are displayed, and for IE9 those boxes with a red cross in the middle are displayed.

I checked for errors using firebug, which gives me the same error (for all the gifs)
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - http://myhost/Projectname/smileys/smirk.gif"
, but the url, folder name and path name shown in the errors are all correct.

What may be the reason that my smileys arent showing up? And, when i click on one of the smileys, the smiley does not get displayed in the textbox, instead, the corresponding plain text simileys like :-) are shown. Is this working as intended?
