codeigniter solr library

has there been any work done on integrating codeigniter with apache solr? how can I use solr with codeigniter?

I don't know much is out there but did find this useful [url="http://www.simonemms.com/2011/02/08/codeigniter-solr/"]solr page[/url]. Since solr runs on a java server, there may not be alot of users out there from a PHP framework.
