[old] CodeIgniter4.0.0 Development |
The first alpha was launched Sept 30, 2018.
Alpha Stages There are a number of missing features, and we hope the community will help uncover more. Our plan is to chip away at those as best we can, with successive alphas every two weeks or so until it looks like the framework is feature complete. That would see the next alpha released during the second half of October. What are we working on? See the issues list on github. We don't know how many go-rounds we will need, but at some point we will deem things to be sufficiently feature-complete that we can launch... Beta Stages The first beta will be feature complete, but we will need community help to test the heck out of it, identify defects, and help correct them. Our plan is to have successive betas every two weeks or so until it looks like we are nearly production ready. That will lead to ... Production Launch We will have several release candidates, with any last minute defect identification and correction, and then we are good to go! If we have three alphas, three betas and three release candidates (picking a not unreasonable number from my hat), that would see CodeIgniter4.0.0 full release in January, 2019! Things could progress slower or quicker, depending on the community and on our availability, so don't take this date as a commitment! And then... ? When we get closer to beta or release candidates, we can start planning those features that should be in the next release, be it minor (4.0.1) or major (4.1.0). Based on feedback in the feature request subforum, we will open threads, with polls, for those features that make the most sense. Poll results will help us prioritize development efforts and help requests.

Excellent. Always good to see there's plan in place.
Will try to make time and find a little mock project to work on over coming weeks
Excellent!
Excited to see CodeIgniter4.0.0 full release in the new year January, 2019.
