Thanks for the tips! Toadsoft looks promising. I hate to be "that guy" but I really would prefer a more attractive program than Squirrel SQL Tongue
As I already mentioned, TOAD is a serious commercial tool (visit the main page at http://www.quest.com/) probably one of the best for Oracle (well if you ever tried to work with Oracle admin tools you'd find SQuirreL very attractive Big Grin)

Another option could be HeidiSQL http://www.heidisql.com/ but if you are going to switch to a MAC you'd rather consider CocoaMySQL Smile

cheers

mysqlfront (discontinued) was really good.
SQLyog is about as good, which means it kicks ass.

mysql-administrator/mysql-query-browser are ok. They're the official admin tools released by Mysql AB, now hold by SUN Mycrosystems.
I use them on a daily basis, the graphical arrangement of the controls and grids is in my opinion the biggest minus. Apart from that it gives access to every MySQL feature.

I found a small bug in it:
when setting a column datatype to varchar, yo have to manually change 'VARCHAR' to 'VARCHAR(256)' or whatever length you wish.

I don't know to which platforms SQLyog is available, to be honest I ok with mysql admin tools.

As a matter of fact mysql front was reborn after been discontinued for a while... Take a look http://www.mysqlfront.de/.
I'm not sure about how it works... I just got used to use the console

Hi,

In regards to SQLyog, I also have it running with Wine on my Ubuntu laptop. Nice to have the same tool no matter what machine/operating system I'm on...

Cheers,

Interestingly, navicat on the mac is better than on the pc in quite a few ways. Which is odd. Navicat is also available for linux where the pc version comes with wine.

I had an old developer turn me onto a few years back. Its a little slow, but to be expected since I typically work remotely. But once you get the hang of it (i find it much different than PhpMyadmin), it is a pretty nice app though. Though, when I develop locally I just use PHPmyadmin.
